JUNIOR SQUAD

The BRT Junior Squad has a heavy emphasis on skill development, technique in all disciplines and aim for a progressive fitness increase. We want our juniors to become elite at the skills of triathlon not just "fit" athletes.

We believe that teaching the correct technique and skills can be the difference and is a huge advantage on race day. 
Working fundamentals first and foremost will set a fantastic base to build on as they progress through the years.

JUNIOR COACHING
Our juniors will be coached as a full time programmed BRT athlete and set up with a personalised program. We set up a Training Peaks account (app) which is how we deliver and record the sessions.

Our group of junior athletes will undergo a compulsory initial fitness test and run technique analysis so our coaches can find and record a base training level. From there the coach, athlete and athlete's family will agree on an achievable weekly training schedule.

Being a junior this is an important conversation as we need to take into account all factors including family, study and social life.

Once set up the athlete will begin training and be welcomed into the broader club environment including some adult group training sessions, swim squads and all other BRT club benefits where appropriate.

JUNIOR COACHING PACKAGE INCLUDES:
PROGRAMMING:
  • Custom program delivered by Training Peaks.
  • Custom program written to power, heart race and/or pace.
  • Heavy emphasis on technique refinement, race strategy, nutrition plan and race dynamics.
  • Dynamic indoor trainer workouts focusing on strength, Vo2 Max, endurance and/or recovery.
  • Custom program based on:
    - Athlete's goal
    - Athlete's work/life, family schedule
    - Athlete's access to equipment
  • Coaches to anaylse sessions and adapt future programming if needed.
  • Unlimited pre/post activity comments.
  • Unlimited Weekly Programming Updates
  • Unlimited Athlete Testing / Benchmarking

COMMUNICATION
  • Unlimited text / FB Messenger communication with coach.
  • Option for 1 x scheduled < 30min phone call with coach per month.
  • Availability of communication to be agreed upon by coach and athlete.
  • Access to the team's Facebook Messenger Chat Group.
  • 2 x team emails per week featuring race reports, weekly schedule, upcoming events and more...

    - Race schedule / calendar
